BLUE-TONGUED SKINK


CHARACTERISTICS
Its adult size can reach up to 50 cm. In good conditions it can live for more than 20 years. Its body is elongated, cylindrical and sturdy with reduced legs and small flat and shiny scales. They have a neck of considerable size, very thick and strong. They have a blue tongue.
DIET
It feeds on a variety of small animals such as insects, other reptiles, as well as some vegetable materials and fruits.
REPRODUCTION
They are ovoviviparous, in other words, their offspring develop in eggs which remain inside the mothers body for their development. Each female lays between 10 to 15 eggs.
CURIOSITIES
When they are disturbed, they open their mouths and stick out their blue tongues, inflating their body and whistling loudly. They can lose their tail in the event of danger
