BEARED DRAGON

CHARACTERISTICS
Adult males, who can measure up to 60 cm long and weigh 450 g, are larger than the females. They are capable of experiencing very slight changes in colour to help regulate their temperature. Size of between 40 and 45 cm with longevity of between 7 and 10 years. There is sexual dimorphism.
DIET
They are omnivorous animals, although when they are born they are more insectivorous.
REPRODUCTION
The male in search of a female frequently shakes his head close to the females and inflates his beard. Receptive females slightly flatten themselves and lift their tail. The male then takes the neck of the female and places his body in such a way that the two cloacae are close together.
CURIOSITIES
When it feels threatened, the bearded dragon opens its mouth wide, simultaneously unfolding its beard of spines, which is coloured black, for the purpose of impressing his adversary.
