GREY MOUSE LEMUR

CHARACTERISTICS
It is one of the smallest primates, being just 10-14 cm in length and its weight ranges from 40-70 g depending on the season. The males tend to sleep alone whereas the females do so in groups.
DIET
Invertebrates, small reptiles, amphibians, fruits, leaves and flowers. It complements its diet with sap, resin, reptiles and amphibians.
REPRODUCTION
Mating takes place in September, with the young being born in November. The gestation period is 59 to 66 days. Normally, just two offspring are born at each birth, although this could range from one to three. Females achieve maturity when they are one year old.
CURIOSITIES
Each female has a field of action, a radius of activity or territory, of some 0.75 hectares. They mark these areas with their urine. The field of action of a male may have common areas with various females. They maintain the excess or fatness of the tail. In times of drought, these reserves help them to survive.
