This thematic area enables us to observe 28 different species of nocturnal and crepuscular animals in action: it is the first and only noctuary in Spain. For these purposes, a night with a full moon is faithfully recreated during the day, with the help of a complete technological system consisting of advanced ventilation equipment and a complex system of nocturnal lighting. This process is inverted at night, as it is then when the diurnal light is recreated so that these animals may sleep in peace.
The visitor entering the darkness of Silent shadows will experience something difficult to imagine, such as the behaviour of nocturnal animals with the setting of the sun. 28 different species await our visitors: felines such as Amazonian ocelots; curious mammals such as sloth bears, black and white ruffed lemurs, aardvarks, Egyptian bats or night monkeys; extraordinary reptiles such as albino pythons or monitors and other species difficult to find such as desert hares, genets, chinchillas, otters, bearcats, vulpine phalangers or electric eels capable of discharging up to 10.000 volts.
