SEABASS


CHARACTERISTICS
The body is elongated, it measures between 10 and 90 cm in length, with meaty lips and in the opercle it has two short spines. Its colour varies, from dark grey on the back to white on the ventral area, although in water it looks shiny silver, more lead-coloured on the back, with olive green iridescence
DIET
Crustaceans, worms, fish, sea urchins and other marine animals.
REPRODUCTION
The egg-laying season is from January to March, and it is therefore likely that the female spawns various times during this period. Each female can lay up to 250.000 eggs per kilo in weight. Spawning is spontaneous and all the eggs are expelled in just 2-3 days.

Much appreciated for its culinary value and in sports fishing.
