
- CHARACTERISTICS
- This goose reaches a length of between 66 and 69 cm., with an average weight of some 2.8 Kg.
There is sexual dimorphism as the male is of brown-black colour with whitish head. Red legs and bill.
The female is brown, with black striped back and chest and white and black striped stomach, brown-grey tail feathers and yellow legs, unlike those of the male which are black.

- REPRODUCTION
- They make their nests close to lakes and lagoons. The clutch of the Emperor Goose has four to six eggs.
Incubation takes between 23 to 27 days. The squabs fly after 50-60 days. They breed for the first time at the age of three to four.

- One of its most direct predators is the glaucous gull which preys on its chicks and eggs.
