PYGMY MARMOSET


CHARACTERISTICS
It has non-opposable thumbs. It measures 11 to 15 cm. And adult weight is around 120 grams. It does not present sexual dimorphism. And the juveniles, apart from their length, are the same as the adults. Stable groups are made up of an adult pair and up to four generations of their mature offspring.
DIET
Main diet: shoots, insects and sap. Although it can also feed on small vertebrates, such as for example Anolis sp.
REPRODUCTION
Although each group has more than one adult of each sex, in the majority of cases there is just one breeding female and only one male has access to her. Births can take place all year round. They tend to have a high percentage of gemellary births.
CURIOSITIES
They have diverse types of communication amongst themselves, from oral to tactile, olfactory and visual communication.
