EMPEROR TAMARIN


CHARACTERISTICS
Length of 23 to 25cm, weighing some 450 grams. With the peculiarity of its immense white moustaches. It has non-opposable thumbs and the nails on its digits are hook-shaped.
DIET
Principally fruit and nectar, complemented with sap, flower and invertebrates.
REPRODUCTION
They have a polyandric system, between non-related adults. The gestation period is 140-145 days. They give birth to twins.
CURIOSITIES
They live in family groups that can include from the breeding pair up to 40 individuals. Together with Geoffroy’s Marmoset.
