
- CHARACTERISTICS
- With yellow and cobalt blue plumage, it has a robust black bill.
It is a gregarious bird which groups together in flocks made up of small family clans, at times associated with other macaw species.
Of diurnal habits, its activity begins at dawn with their departure for the feeding grounds, following the fructification of the trees.
- DIET
- It feeds on a great variety of herbaceous seeds, berries, fruit, flowers, nectar, cereals, maize and palm fruits.
- REPRODUCTION
- They nest at a great height in the cavities of trees. The clutch is of three eggs.
The incubation period is of 24-26 days. The young tend to abandon the nest after 13 weeks. There have been cases of hybridization with other species. The incubation period of the 1-3 eggs is of 25-30 days.
