BRAZILIAN SALMON PINK BIRDEATER SPIDER

CHARACTERISTICS: The females of this tarantula live an average of 6 to 14 years. The males die shortly after reaching maturity, living just 3 to 6 years. Their colour varies from light brown to dark brown, with lighter marks on the legs. They have hair on the body, abdomen and legs.
DIET: Invertebrates and small vertebrates such as chickens and mice
REPRODUCTION: The females lay between 100 and 400 eggs, which hatch after two months
CURIOSITIES: They can make a whistling noise if disturbed and they defend themselves by biting, or firing off their body hair. It is a mild but very painful venom with a very intense burning sensation felt on the site of the bite and surrounding areas.
