BRAZILIAN RED TARANTULA

CHARACTERISTICS: Females live for 14 to 16 years as a general rule and can reach up to 15cm in length. Males live for 4 to 5 years as a general rule and measure approximately 13cm in length.
DIET: Invertebrates.
REPRODUCTION: There do not tend to be any problems, although in some cases the female has devoured the male. Generally, the female accepts the male and the process lasts around 3 minutes. Once fertilised, in approximately 3 months she will make the sac within which she will deposit between 400 and 600 eggs, maybe more and these will hatch 3 month after that.
CURIOSITIES: They have urticating hair.
