PURPLE GLOSSY-STARLING

CHARACTERISTICS
They are different from the previous ones due to their iridescences being more vivid. There is no sexual dimorphism, although the females may be smaller and have a shorter tail crest than the males.
DIET
They are omnivorous (insects, seeds, fruit...).
REPRODUCTION
Although they are gregarious, in the mating season they are unpredictable, being aggressive with other members of the group. They can steal the nest of another bird and reform it to lay their own eggs. They lay between 2 and 6 pale blue eggs which are incubated for 11-18 days by both parents.
CURIOSITIES
They tend to perch on the haunches of zebras and other ungulates to peck at the parasites that occupy their bodies. They are being threatened due to the chemical products used for pest control.
