HELMETED GUINEAFOWL

CHARACTERISTICS
Grey verging on black or blue-ish plumage with white patches. Red facial appendages. Osseous crest and bald head.
DIET
Omnivorous, preferring vegetable matter. Even so, it can include insects in its diet.
REPRODUCTION
Its eggs are larger than those of all other guinea fowls. They are monogamous, but the pair does not remain together outside the breeding season. The clutch is of between 6 and 14 eggs, with an incubation of 25 to 30 days.
CURIOSITIES
Social bird that forms large flocks. In the event of danger, it is capable of running really fast. Despite living in flocks, they normally approach drinking sources one by one, in rigorous order (probably to prevent danger). They are capable of killing snakes using group techniques.
