
- CHARACTERISTICS
- It is a medium-sized gull (41 cm) with white body and tail and light grey coloured wings. It is distinguished by its grey hood, the intensity of which varies depending on its maturity and reproductive state. It has reddish bill and legs.
- DIET
- Carnivore and detritivore (they will take food alive or collect rubbish or carrion when they get the chance). They include in their diet crabs and small fish.
- REPRODUCTION
- It lays 2 or 3 eggs in nests made from algae and/or straw. They tend to breed in large colonies close to the coast or to river estuaries.

- It is a very noisy species, above all when concentrated in large colonies.
