GREY-CROWNED CRANE

CHARACTERISTICS
They are not known for being a migratory bird. They move from one place to another, but more in relation to the search for food. It is impossible to distinguish the male from the female at a glance. Not unless they are performing the nuptial dance.
DIET
Their diet consists of seeds and small insects and reptiles.
REPRODUCTION
The clutch normally consists of two to three eggs, occasionally laying four. Incubation takes 28 to 31 days and it is estimated that the female does most of it.
CURIOSITIES
This species and the Black-necked Crane are the only cranes that can perch in trees. This is due to the anatomy of the toes on their feet.
